May 2018 Newsletter

First of all, I thank all of you MCMS supporters who have helped make our 2017-2018 season another successful one. We had four splendid concerts this past season. Second, we are grateful to Father O’Doherty for inviting us back to use Queen of Peace Catholic Church for our venue again next season.

Our new music director, Dr. Kosumo Morishita, has jumped right in and has done a terrific job planning out our next season. Here is what we have planned for our 2018-2019 season: (All concerts will be on Sundays starting at 3 p.m.)

October 7, 2018: Ensemble D’Amore, a new professional chamber ensemble founded by Ocala’s own Charles McGee (oboe). The group includes violins, viola, cello and clarinet. The planned program will include music from Mozart and Puccini. I am very excited about having this new ensemble play for us.

November 4, 2018: a University of Florida Clarinet ensemble formed by undergraduate and graduate students; directed by UF Professor of Clarinet, Mitchell Estrin

February 24, 2019: Jasmine Arakwa, the sensational award winning pianist/instructor from UF.

March 31, 2019: Brick City Piano Trio featuring our Kosumo Morishita

More information about the season will be in our August newsletter.
